The Jacquard technique is a mechanical loom, invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1801, that simplifies the process of manufacturing textiles with complex patterns such as brocade, damask and matelasse.

Until 1960, all kitchen linens were predominantly white. Only from 1970 new stylist started to make a name for themselves by offering a different approach giving color an important role in the home linens. Primrose Bordier was one of the most notorious stylist who began to work and design for Le Jacquard Francais in 1978. Since then, the linen design would never be the same.

Le Jacquard Francais made technical innovations, invested in researching colors and carve out an avant-garde position for itself by revolutionizing it's collections. It's weaves brought a blaze of colors in dinning rooms and kitchens.   Custom recommends that the table cloth has a 7.8-in (20cm) to 11.8 (30cm) drop around the table. In terms of width, the table cloth should be 15.7-in (40cm) to 23.6-in (60cm) bigger than the width of the table. It is customary for the drop to be longer at the end of the table.

  It is recommended to use rectangular table cloths on oval tables. The points of the square or rectangle drop lower than the rest of the table cloth and give a more contemporary effect to the dressed table.
  
  CARE
  
  • All Le Jaquard Francois products are treated to minimize shrinking. However, it is normal for items to shrink by 3 or 4% after the first few washes
  • Before using for the first time, soak the item for several hours in warm water or run through a machine without washing powder or liquid. This clear water bath will remove the fabric's finish and avoid stains becoming encrusted
  • Refer to washing symbols on the product label
  • It is strongly inadvisable to use a tumble dryer as it wears out the fibers and makes it dull
  • Remove stains as quickly as possible to avoid them becoming encrusted as the dry
  • Before washing, moisten the stain, then rub with Marseille soap or an appropriate stain-remover
  • Iron hot, while still slightly damp
  • Avoid overloading your machine
  • Do not put a folded item in the drum of your machine; the movement inside the drum may break the fabric on the fold
