Family owned for seven generations, Wüsthof knives have been made in Solingen since 1814.
All Wüsthof knives are precision forged except for the stamped Gourmet and laser cut Silverpoint series. Wüsthof forged knives have more than 40 steps in their manufacturing process; stamped Wüsthof knives have 14. Wüsthof forged knives range covers more than 350 different models.
German-style knives are sharpened to an angle of 14 degrees per side; Japanese-style knives are sharpened to an angle of 10 degrees per side.
Wüsthof blades feature PEtec Technology. Process comprise the following steps: blades are measured before sharpening using lasers; computers calculate the precise sharpening angle for each blade; precision robots sharpen the blades on a whetstone. Last, knives are given a final polish using a special disc.
