The Mignonnette is a faithful reissue of the Z model, the very first mill Peugeot made in 1874. Each 4-inch mill is fully covered in silver plate to the highest standard recognized by French law, so this pair brings real heirloom character to the table. Inside are Peugeot's own grinding mechanisms: one for peppercorns, one for salt.
Why it's special
- A piece of history. It's a replica of Peugeot's first mill from 1874, in polished silver plate.
- Two-stage pepper mechanism. Case-hardened steel first cracks, then grinds peppercorns to release the most flavor and aroma.
- Dedicated salt mechanism. Two ribbed stainless steel plates crush dry, coarse salt to a consistent size without corroding.
- Adjustable grind. Turn the top knob to go from fine to coarse.
- Gift ready. Each mill comes in a gift tube.
Care and use
- Buff regularly with a chamois cloth or a silver-plate polish.
- Pepper mill: use dry, whole peppercorns up to 5 mm (black, white or green). Pink peppercorns can make up to 15% of a blend. Don't grind salt, herbs, seeds or pickled peppercorns.
- Salt mill: use dry, coarse salt up to 4 mm, such as Himalayan pink, rock or unrefined sea salt. Not for wet salt.
